Estonia extradites suspected terrorist to Ukraine
Estonia handed over suspected terrorist Vladimir Polyakov to the Ukrainian authorities on Thursday.
The Ukrainian State Prosecutor General’s office suspects Polyakov of belonging to a terrorist organization. Polyakov was a member of the so-called Lugansk People’s Republic in Eastern Ukraine and is accused of having performed duties assigned to him by this org
Founding a terrorist group or organization as well as leading or belonging to such a group or organization in Ukraine is a crime punishable with eight to 15 years in prison.
The same crime is punishable in Estonia with five years to life. The Estonian courts found Ukraine’s extradition request met all the legal requirements.
