Defense minister Hanso: Estonian special forces have done excellent job in Ukraine
Estonian Minister of Defense Hannes Hanso visited members of the Estonian special operations forces who are currently in Ukraine training members of a Ukrainian special forces regiment, and received a thorough overview of the Estonian soldiers' service there.
"Members of the Estonian special operations forces have done an excellent job in Ukraine," said Hanso according to a Ministry of Defense press release. "Our Ukrainian partners highly value our special forces' skills and motivation. Estonia is doing everything to support Ukraine in difficult times."
According to Hanso, the Estonian and Ukrainian special operations forces have established a trusting and mutually beneficial cooperative relationship.
"There is also another side to the training provided by Estonia," the minister continued. "Our instructors are learning a lot from their Ukrainian colleagues, since these are soldiers with actual combat experience. Getting to know the adversary's tactics and equipment is very important for Estonian special operations forces and national defense as a whole. I believe that such mutually beneficial military cooperation has great prospects in the future."
Members of the Estonian special forces were awarded medals of the Ukrainian Minister of Defense and medals of the Ukrainian General Staff at a ceremonial lineup for their contributions ot the development of the Ukrainian special operations forces.
Together with US special operations forces, Estonian special operations forces have been training Ukrainian special forces taking part in combat activity in an anti-terror operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Eastern Ukraine.
