Nearly 400 volunteers join Estonian Defence League in first half of 2016
Membership of Estonia's volunteer-based Estonian Defence League and its affiliated organizations grew by nearly 400 during the first six months of this year.
As of July 1, the Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit), the Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization (Naiskodukaitse) and the boys' and girls' youth organizations Young Eagles (Noored Kotkad) and Home Daughters (Kodutütred) boasted a total of 25,385 members, reported spokespeople for the Defence League.During the first half of 2016, 384 volunteers in all joined the organization, whose total membership crossed the 25,000 mark during the final quarter of last year.At the beginning of July, the Estonian Defence League had a total of 15,973, the Women's Voluntary Defence Organization 2,836, Young Eagles 3,184 and Home Daughters 3,502 members.
