August party ratings: Social Dems' support increases, Center's decreases
August saw the largest jump in support for the Social Democratic Party (SDE) while support for the Center Party decreased overall according to fresh party ratings released by Turu-uuringute AS. As no surveys were conducted measuring the popularity of Estonia's political parties in July, August numbers can be compared to those from June.
While in June the Center party boasted a 28 percent rating, giving them an easy 8 percent edge over the next most popular party, by August they had dropped somewhat to 24 percent.
This gave the biggest opposition party a narrow victory over the ruling Reform Party, who managed to increase their support from 20 to 23 percent in two months.
Third place in popularity, with the support of 15 percent of survey respondents, was taken over by the SDE, who had placed 5th overall with the support of just 10 percent of respondents two months prior. 15 percent is also the highest rating the SDE has yet earned this year.
The Conservative People's Party of Estonia's (EKRE) level of support remained unchanged at 13 percent, while the Free Party's support dropped from 12 percent to 10 in August.
The Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) likewise saw a two-percent drop in popularity compared to June ratings, going from 7 percent in June to just 5 percent in August.
Turu-uuringute AS surveyed a total of 1,003 people across Estonia in August by means of face-to-face visits conducted in respondents' homes. Survey results are presented excluding those who remained undecided in their support, making the results comparable to the method used in Riigikogu elections. In surveying 1,000 respndents, the maximum error does not exceed ±3,10 percent.
