As the new government led by Jüri Ratas is to be sworn in on Wednesday, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas (Reform) will have been in office for two years and eight months, or a total of 974 days.

"Of the things achieved in the past two years and eight months, I consider strengthening the presence of allies, bringing the administrative reform into its home sretch, lowering labor taxes as well as keeping the budget in balance the most important," Rõivas was quoted by spokespeople as saying.

"Estonia has been a strong ally in NATO and a valued partner in the EU," he continued. "Based on many criteria we are among the best in the world, and in the past three years we have also taken long strides toward a more secure, prosperous and dynamic society."

The first Rõivas-led government assumed office on March 26, 2014, when a government coalition was formed by the Reform Party and the Social Democratic Party (SDE). Rõivas' second government assumed office just after a year later, on Apr. 9, 2015, following the establishment of a new government coalition by Reform, SDE and the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL).

President Kersti Kaljulaid is to meet with ministers of the new government formed by the Center Party, the SDE and IRL at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and formally appoint it into office. The new government is to be sworn in before the Riigikogu on Wednesday, after which the president will release from office the current Rõivas-led government.

During his 974 days in office, Rõivas made 82 foreign visits, including two NATO summits, 24 EU summits and 13 visits with a business delegation.

During the same period, a total of 154 meetings and 113 Cabinet meetings were held and the government adopted 2,939 decisions.
