Avandi the ideal man for Estonian women, Russians prefer Savisaar and Putin
A poll by TNS Emor found that the most ideal male public figure for Estonian women is actor Märt Avandi, while Edgar Savisaar and Vladimir Putin were top for Russian-speakers.
The study showed that women prefer men who put effort into relationships, who show care and are positive, more than successful or wealthy men.
Emor expert Tanja Kriger said men still believe the best trait is wealth, diligence and the ability to provide for the family. She said the average Estonian woman would prefer an intelligent and kindhearted man. These feelings, both for men and women, are strongest among the middle-aged.
Avandi, an actor known for his clumsy style, is the most ideal man for ethnic Estonians. Politician and former prime minister Andrus Ansip is second, followed closely by rock star Tanel Padar, TV personality Hannes Võrno, politicians Siim Kallas and Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the president, and actor Mait Malmsten.
Ethnic Russians living Estonia have two clear favorites in politician Edgar Savisaar and Russian president Vladimir Putin. Retired athlete Erki Nool and Ilves follow.
