An extreme sports center in the outskirts of Tallinn will open its doors in January. The center is unique in Europe and meets all international criteria, allowing new extreme sport competitions to be held in Estonia for the first time.
The center is set to host UCI C1 class BMX King of Tallinn competition on May 2016. Negotiations for other international competitions are also under way.
The center's inner attractions have been designed by Nate Wessel of Camp Woodward and the outside BMX track by Tom Ritzenhaler, who also designed Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic tracks.
The center is located in Peetri on Tallinn-Tartu highway, 6 kilometers from Tallinn city center. It boasts 4,000 square meters of floor space in the sports hall and another 9,500 square meters of space outside. It has training facilities for parkour and freerunning, slacklining, acrobatics, tumbling, trampolining, tricking, cheerleading, skateboarding, longboarding and snowboarding, freestyle skiing and skating, BMX and much more.
The center costs 4 million euros to build. 85 percent of the funds came from Enterprise Estonia and the European Regional Development Fund.
