The driver of a police patrol car caused an accident on Sunday midday, which led an officer to be taken to hospital for treatment.

The accident happened at 12.53 p.m. on Sunday in Rapla County where a Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) Škoda Octavia, driven by a 44-year old officer, veered into oncoming traffic on the 38th kilometer of Tallinna-Rapla-Türi tee. The patrol car collided with a Toyota Avensis, being driven by a 54-year old man, the PPA told BNS.

As a result of the collision, both cars ended up leaving the road, with the PPA car also hitting a tree. The police driver was then taken to the North Estonia Medical Center (PERH) in Tallinn for treatment.
