According to information available to ERR, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, will visit Estonia on Apr. 22. Ryan is arriving with a congressional delegation and scheduled to meet with the president of the Riigikogu as well as MPs.

Republican Paul Ryan was reelected speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in January this year, and is second in the presidential line of succession after the vice president.

Ryan was the Republican Party’s candidate for vice president in 2012. In last year’s presidential election campaign, he was one of Donald Trump’s rivals in the Republican primaries. A week after Trump’s victory against Hillary Clinton, Ryan announced he was “on the same page” with the president-elect.

According to information available to ERR, the United Kingdom’s minister of defense, Michael Fallon, is scheduled to visit a few days before Ryan.
