Aab demands relocation of 13 state agency central offices from Tallinn

Minister of Public Administration Jaak Aab (Center) has sent other ministers a letter reminding them that they have until mid-January to submit an action plan for the relocation of the central offices of 13 Estonian state agencies.
The requirement to relocate central offices came as a surprise to the heads of these agencies, however, as previously only the partial relocation thereof had been discussed, wrote business daily Äripäev (link in Estonian).
Under Aab's direction, proposals have been drawn up for the relocation of more than 1,000 jobs to other county seats, but the regional distribution of these jobs has not yet met expectations.
According to the minister, not enough jobs have been planned for relocation to Kuressaare, Kärdla, Haapsalu, Jõgeva, Paide, Valga, Võru or Põlva.
"Together we must make an effort to inhibit marginalization and ensure access to highly skilled state jobs across Estonia," Aab noted.
