Cows from Võru County will graze at Pärnu coastal meadow this summer
More than 200 cows will graze on Pärnu's coastal meadow this summer and the first were introduced earlier this week.
Silver Visnapuu, a farmer in Võru County, introduced his cows to the meadow on Wednesday, ETV's "Aktuaalne kaamera" reported.
Visnapuu said last year the cows were allowed to roam the coastal meadow from May 10, but this year the grass has taken longer to grow and only in recent days has there been enough for the cows to eat.
He said approximately 200 to 220 animals will come to the coastal meadow this year. Previously, there were 260.
Cows will also be used to maintain the urban meadow at Pirita River valley in Tallinn this summer instead of using lawnmowers. The cows have been given the run of Kõrkja Island for the summer months.
