Tallink holding one-off farm festival September Aland cruise
Shipping line Tallink is holding a farming-themed one-off cruise to the Aland/Ahvenanmaa islands in September.
The cruise mirrors earlier such trips the company has organized to the autonomous Finnish islands, as well as to Saaremaa, and coincides with Aland's Open Farms weekend on 18-20 September 2020.
"We have been able to offer more trips to Aland this year to our Estonian and Finnish customers than most years and all the trips have been very popular and well received by everyone," Tallink Grupp board member Piret Mürk-Dubout said via a press release.
"The Aland Harvest Festival is something our customers have been talking about for many years, indicating this would be the one autumn event they would like to be able to visit in our region if the opportunity arose. This year, we can make the wish come true and all farmers and farming fans are welcome to join us on this first ever autumn special cruise to Aland and to explore all the farms, events and fairs taking place and simply enjoy a wonderful early autumn weekend on this beautiful island," Mürk-Dubout went on.
The cruise will be use the Victoria I vessel.
The Victoria I will depart Tallinn harbor at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 18, arriving in Mariehamn, capital of Aland, at 10.00 a.m. the next morning, after calling in in Helsinki Friday evening.
The return trip starts same day, on the Saturday, at 6 p.m., arriving in Helsinki at 10.00 a.m. Sunday morning, berthing there for an hour before heading for Tallinn, where the Victoria I will arrive at 1.30 p.m.
The Open Farms weekend is, as its name suggests, a three-day open door event where farmers and others hold visitor days and sell food and wares at various locations on the islands.
Tallink's websites are here (in Estonian) and here (in Finnish).
Tickets go on sale today, August 10.
