Reps participates in cabinet meeting with newborn daughter

Minister of Education and Research Mailis Reps (Center), who gave birth to her sixth child last Sunday, participated in a Cabinet meeting together with her newborn daughter.

Prime Minister Jüri Ratas (Center) congratulated the minister on the birth of her child and wrote on social media that Thursday's meeting was likely the most joyful Cabinet meeting of all time.

"I would like to once again offer my heartfelt congratulation to Mailis and her whole family on the birth of her baby girl," Ratas wrote.

Reps announced via the ministry on Tuesday that she did not wish to spend much time away from her job.

"The minister and [Secretary General Tea Varrak] have agreed that there will be no changes in the ministry's work and that work will continue through the secretary general," the ministry told ERR. "The minister has not currently taken leave; she wants to continue to remain engaged in the field and is currently assesing the situation on an ongoing basis."

Charlotte is the sixth child of Reps and her husband, Latvian lawyer Agris Repšs.
