Kontaveit defeats number one in career best in Italian Open
Estonian tennis star Anett Kontaveit (WTA 68) beat world number one Angelique Kerber 6:4, 6:0 in just 56 minutes, advancing to the third round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome.
Kontaveit initially trailed 2:4 before winning the opening set 6:4.
In the second set, the Estonian tennis player's advantage was clear and she won all six games in just 23 minutes, thus defeating Kerber and advancing to the third round, where she will face Croatian Mirjana Lučić-Baroni (WTA 22) for the first time.
