Senator Lamar Alexander to visit Estonia
U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., is scheduled to visit Tallinn and meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs Sven Mikser next week.
Topics to be discussed at the meeting between Alexander and Mikser include transatlantic ties and the security situation in the Baltic Sea region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Alexander is the senior U.S. senator from Tennessee, having served since 2003. Alexander unsuccessfully ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 1996 and again in 2000.
U.S. senators most recently visited Estonia last December, when a delegation including Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. and Amy Klobuchar, D.-Minn., paid a two-day visit to the Estonian capital, where they met with President Kersti Kaljulaid, Prime Minister Jüri Ratas and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sven Mikser.
