First 30,000 to file tax returns to receive refunds Thursday
The Estonian Tax and Customs Board (MTA) on Wednesday confirmed decisions on the first 30,000 tax rebates for a total sum of €8.1 million. Those whose decisions were forwarded to banks on Wednesday should receive their refunds via online bank transfer sometime Thursday.
The MTA is continuing to process tax returns, but the majority of refund decisions are expected to be made next week.
Late on the night of Feb. 14, the MTA's e-tax system began accepting 2017 returns. The MTA hoped at the time that it could start issuing tax rebates beginning Feb. 26 or 27.
While the deadline for filing taxes has typically been March 31, Estonians have until April 2 this year to file their 2017 taxes.
