Kangert Finishes Tour de France in 20th
Tanel Kanger finished the world's most prestigious cycling competition, the Tour de France in 20th, finished off the pace of winner Vincenzo Nibali by 52 minutes.
Kanger is part of the Astana team, and helped Nibali, a teammate, finish in first place in the tour. Õhtuleht reported that Kangert is set for a 40,000 euro bonus.
A second Estonian, Rein Taaramäe, finished 88th, 3 hours and 35 minutes behind Nibali.
The best-ever result in the competition by an Estonian came from Taaramäe, who finished 11th in 2011. Jaan Kirsipuu managed to win four stages of the Tour de France and briefly wore the leader's yellow jersey, but he never managed to complete an entire tour.
