Trump sends congratulation note to Kaljulaid
U.S. president Donald Trump has sent President Kersti Kaljulaid his congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming 99th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. In his note, Trump wrote that Estonia was a “valued ally, friend, and leader in promoting strong transatlantic ties”.
“Your support for the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine is important for our shared goal of enhancing European and regional security. I look forward to working together to further advance transatlantic ties as you assume the presidency of the European Council later this year,” Trump wrote.
He also recognized Estonian efforts within NATO, in particular its achievement of the 2 percent GDP goal regarding defense spending.
On behalf of the American people, he wished all Estonians a “joyful celebration” of their independence, Trump wrote.
