Social Democratic candidates to run on independent list in Narva

The Narva section of the Social Democratic Party (SDE) will not participate with a list of its own in this year’s local elections, but instead its candidates will join independent coalition Meie Narva (Our Narva).
Ants Kutti, who leads SDE’s group on the Narva city council, told ERR’s Russian news portal that his party would approach the elections “pragmatically”. The party’s leadership had met their decision with understanding, and at the moment, the list was being negotiated, Kutti said.
According to Kutti, the first position on the list was not yet clear, as there were already several strong and fitting candidates. Several well-known people had expressed interest, and almost half of the list was made up of Social Democrats.
The names of the first 20 candidates on the list of Meie Narva would be made public at the end of May, Kutti said.
