A convention of the Social Democrats (SDE) on Sunday is discussing the party's platform for the Oct. 15 local elections and will also vote on the chairman and members of the governing bodies of the party.
The party's chairman, Minister of Health and Labour Jevgeni Ossinovski, will make a speech about the political situation and the party's preparations for the municipal elections, spokespeople for SDE said on Saturday.
The convention that started in the Pärnu Concert Hall at 11 a.m. on Sunday is expected to endorse the party's platform for the elections and vote on the chairman, deputy chairs, elected members of the party's leadership, members of its audit committee, and other bodies within the party.
The sole candidate for chairman is incumbent Jevgeni Ossinovski. The Social Democrats are the second-largest party in the current coalition of the Center Party, the Social democrats, and the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL).
