Must is the choice of the party's Tartu section for this year's local elections, to be held in October. He is one of his party's veteran politicians.
Must was also named as the party's list leader in the City of Tartu, the party said. The Center Party has been in the city's government coalition for nearly 15 years, managing quite well alongside the Reform Party, its main opponent at the state level as well as in Tallinn.
Must is also a member of the Riigikogu. He told daily Postimees that if he was elected mayor this fall, he intended to leave parliament and assume the position as mayor.
