Two companies have been selected by public tender to administer additional strategic liquid fuel reserves over the coming decade.

The Estonian Oil Stockpiling Agency, set up to administer 90 days' worth of reserve fuel for the country, awarded one contract to AS NCC & PO for storage of 4,250 cubic meters of diesel fuel up to the end of 2022. The second, larger contract for storage of 16,133 cubic meters of diesel at Muuga went to Oiltanking Tallinn AS; it runs out at the end of 2017.

The extra storage capacity will increase the country's diesel reserves by 7 percent, uudised.err.ee reported.

Bids were received from a total of eight companies.

None of the bids for a separate contract for storage of 3,000 cubic meters of aviation fuel was deemed acceptable as their prices were too high.
