ID-cards, Mobile-ID, and Smart-ID to be interrupted during maintenance

Due to scheduled maintenance, the use of ID-cards, Mobile-ID, and Smart-ID in e-services will be briefly unavailable on May 28 and 29.
SK ID Solutions, the partner of the Estonian state in certification and time-stamping services, will be carrying out scheduled maintenance in its information system from 11 p.m. on May 28 to 5 a.m. on May 29.
Due to the maintenance works, the use of Mobile-ID and Smart-ID as well as time-stamping and validity confirmation services and giving digital signatures will be unavailable from 2 a.m. on May 29.
Margus Arm, Director of the State Information System: "To ensure the maintenance works disturb users as little as possible, SK ID Solutions updates its systems at night. There may be disruptions in the use of ID-cards, Mobile-ID, and Smart-ID starting from 11 p.m. on May 28. Starting from 2 a.m. on May 29, Mobile-ID and Smart-ID solutions will be unavailable for a few hours and ID-cards can only be used for authentication in certain services. During this time, digital signatures cannot be given in e-services or the DigiDoc4 software and the time-stamping and validity confirmation services will be temporarily suspended.
"Unfortunately, Estonians who are staying abroad must take into consideration that the service interruption may not take place at night for them. Therefore, important operations related to signing and authentication should be rescheduled to an earlier time."
During the service interruption, the ID-card can be used for authentication in services that have joined the state authentication service provided by the Information System Authority (RIA).
If maintenance works are carried out without issues, all services will be restored by 5 a.m. on May 29. If maintenance works take longer than planned, use of the data exchange layer X-road may also be interrupted, due to which data exchange between different information systems may be unavailable.
Margus Arm said: "SK has carried out several tests and assessed the risks related to the update, based on which the duration of the interruption should not exceed two hours. By the morning, all the affected services should be functional again. However, we cannot plan for everything, so we must consider the possibility that interruptions will continue to occur throughout the morning and day of May 29. If this does happen, please contact the provider of the e-service where the disruption occurred."
Using the ID-card as a loyalty card will not be affected.
From 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., short interruptions of up to 30 minutes may occur in all services of SK ID Solutions.
From 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.,all services of SK will be interrupted for up to two hours, including:
- using Smart-ID;
- using Mobile-ID in Estonia and Lithuania;
- validity confirmation services (OCSP);
- the time-stamping service;
- using ID-cards;
- issuing ID-cards and Digi-ID and changing the statuses of certificates;
- issuing Mobile-ID (Estonia and Lithuania) and changing the statuses of certificates;
