Mart Olman takes over Čeh coaching duties from Gerd Kanter
Mart Olman is to coach Slovenian discus star Kristjan Čeh.
Čeh announced this week he had ended his fruitful, two-and-a-half-year collaboration with Estonian Gerd Kanter, Beijing olympics discus gold medalist. The pair parted amicably, citing differences of opinion on training methodologies.
On Thursday, Ceh announced via social media that his new coach will be another Estonian, Mart Olman,
Olman's most prominent protégé until now has been Egert Jõesaar, who finished sixth at the Para Athletics World Championships in Paris in 2023.
Čeh took world championship gold two years ago under Kanter's tutelage, and set a domestic record of 71.86.
He and Kanter had been working together since autumn 2021.
