Nine injured in collision between train, truck near Keila
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a tractor-trailer and an Elron passenger train collided at the Kulna crossing near Keila in Harju County. Nine people were transported to the hospital, of which the engineer and truck driver are in critical condition.
Rescue workers had to cut the truck driver out of his vehicle, the impact of which caused the passenger train to partially derail, a North Prefecture spokesperson told ERR.
In addition to the engineer and truck driver, some passengers on the train sustained injuries as well. No deaths have been reported.
As a result of the crash, trains will continue running between Tallinn and Keila, while shuttle buses will provide connecting service between Keila and Riisipere.
Traffic is also blocked on 1.094 kilometer of Kulna-Vasalemma Road, the Estonian Road Administration said. Drivers are asked to detour around the area via Keila-Haapsalu Highway - Ülesõidu Street - Ringtee Street - Linnamäe Road.
Train service on the Tallinn-Keila-Paldiski route remains unaffected.
