Paper: Wind farmers want to grow mussels in the Gulf of Riga

OÜ Tuuletraal wants to erect 76 wind turbines off the Estonian coast on the Gulf of Riga and use the area between turbines to grow mussels.
Eero Saava, board member of Tuuletraal acknowledged that it is a long process, but the government gave them and two other wind farms the green light for building permit procedures and environmental impact assessments, daily Postimees writes (link in Estonian).
Saava thinks it is likely that the wind farm will produce electricity at the end of the decade, being connected with Virtsu substation.
The company introduced their plans to the local government of Ruhnu and will meet with the local governments of Kihnu, Häädemeeste, and Lääneranna before Midsummer Day.
The wind farm would be located 30 km from all four locations.
