Olympics: Ermits recovers from norovirus, cleared to compete on Friday
Estonian biathlete Kalev Ermits was one of nearly 300 Olympians to fall ill in a weekend norovirus outbreak at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. He has since recovered, however, and is cleared to compete in the men's 4x7.5km relay event on Friday.
Last Friday, Ermits, 25, did not feel well and was separated from the other competitors. New accommodations were arranged for him, where he was quarantined for 48 hours per South Korean requirements.
By Sunday, however, Ermits had recovered, and by Monday he had returned to training.
The Tartu native is currently the best male biathlete on the Estonian team in Pyeongchang, having earned 32nd place in the men's 20km individual event.
