BASE Jumpers Take On Tallinn TV Tower

Fifty BASE jumpers from around the world gathered for three days of free falls off the 314-meter-tall Tallinn TV Tower during the structure's 32nd birthday celebration on Wednesday.

They came from Finland, Latvia, Russia, US, Australia, Switzerland, Hungary and Norway, determined to take a 175-meter leap of faith.

In contrast to regular skydiving, which usually takes place from a height of four kilometers, BASE jumps usually involve a plunge of 50 to 200 meters. Jumpers, who lack an emergency parachute, are required to have skydived hundreds of times as a prerequisite.
