This Weekend’s Weather: Snowstorm Subsides, Temps Drop

Friday’s blizzard should be slackening off through Saturday but will make way for the kind of temperatures that only polar bears could love.
A high-pressure system coming in from the north tomorrow is expected to bring more snow, which might be particularly heavy on the north coast, where strong winds gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour are also forecast. The Meteorology and Hydrology Institute predicts, however, that the winds and snowfall will slacken as Saturday evening arrives.
Temperatures are expected to range from -10 to -4 C on Saturday, but may drop significantly on Saturday night. The mercury could dip as low as -16 C in northern and central areas and -22 C in the northeast.
On Sunday, the low-pressure front in southern Estonia will continue to weaken and a cooler air mass will settle in. Light snow is likely in most of the country with chances of heavier snowfall in coastal areas. Daytime temperatures should stretch from -10 to -5 in most areas of the country, but are likely to get up to -3 in southwest Estonia and on the islands.
