Digital Prescription System Goes Down Again

Estonia's much-touted digital prescription system was offline from 11:00 until just before 14:00 on Friday, preventing doctors from entering prescriptions and customers from picking up medicines at pharmacies.
The failure may have also affected management of general practitioner lists and electronic sick leave notifications, uudised.err.ee reported.
A representative of the E-Health Foundation told ERR shortly after the failure that the problem was being worked on and that they hoped to have the system back up by 14:00.
The e-prescription system, which was launched on January 1, allows doctors to fill out prescriptions electronically, cutting down the need for return doctor visits and allowing patients to pick up medicines using only their national ID cards.
The system experienced similar problems in spring.
