Due to the epidemic-level spread of coronavirus, the high number of individuals who have tested positive have placed the Health Board in a difficult situation in which it is not currently possible to map out the close contacts of infected individuals to the same extent as they have so far been logged, the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.

This process is complicated in the Health Board's northern region, which includes Harju County, Järva County, and Rapla County. The Health Board's western, eastern, and southern regions continue to work as normal.

Until the situation has improved, those individuals who have tested positive in the northern region will receive an electronic notification in three languages. They will be asked to stay at home and notify their close contacts that they have tested positive themselves.

The Health Board will contact all infected individuals by phone as soon as possible in order to provide them with further instructions. However, the rules of conduct regarding anyone who has tested positive, as well as for their close contacts, can also be found on the Health Board's website.

The Health Board would also like to ask employers and the heads of educational institutions to provide their assistance in tracking and tracking close contacts, and in notifying them that they are indeed close contacts.

"We would like to stress that the requirement to self-isolate does not only apply in the case of someone who has been notified by the Health Board, but also if a close contact is notified directly by an individual who has tested positive," the statement said.

The Health Board conducts regular on-site inspections with the aim of being able to check whether those rules which have been established to prevent the spread of the virus are actually being observed. Issues have been found at various entertainment and cultural establishments, but the main concern are individuals who ignore self-isolation rules.

The Health Board's inspectors have observed a general problem in regard to individuals ignoring safety rules, which has resulted in coronavirus becoming even more widespread amongst the general population and makes it very unlikely that there will be any improvement in the situation in the near future.
