Polish shipyard board member accused of bribing Port of Tallinn executives
Jan Paszkowski, a member of the management board and commercial director of Remontowa Shipbuilding, located in Gdańsk, Poland, has been accused of giving large bribes to the former management of the Estonian state-owned Port of Tallinn, weekly Eesti Ekspress reported.
It was revealed in 2015 that the Port of Tallinn corruption case is linked in part with the Polish shipyard and Remontowa Shipbuilding president Andrzej Wojtkiewicz. Paszkowski allegedly transferred about €800,000 to the former management of the Port of Tallinn; the bribe was supposed to amount to a total of €1.2 million.
Remontowa Shipbuilding in 2014 won the tender for the construction of two new ferries for the Port of Tallinn. TS Laevad, a subsidiary of the Port of Tallinn, accepted the Remontowa-built Tõll this January; the ferry Piret was handed over to the Estonian company in March.
