The 14 Estonian men were among 35 crew and security personnel from the anti-piracy vessel Seaman Guard Ohio first arrested in Tamil Nadu, India on Oct. 18, 2013. The men were senteced on Jan. 11, 2016 to five years in prison for entering India with weapons, but were acquitted on Nov. 27, after multiple delays in the appeal process, and released from prison on Nov. 28 of this year.

The Indian Prosecutor's Office had the opportunity to appeal the ruling, but declined to do so, which allowed the men to return home.
