16-year old Estonian midfielder signs with AS Roma

On Wednesday, Estonian football club Tallinn Kalev announced that 16-year old midfielder Martin Vetkal signed a three-year deal with Italian football powerhouse A.S. Roma.

Kalev's director Joel Lindpere commented on the transfer: "Roma's interest was specific, and there was no reason to delay the decision. We're talking about a top world club, and the developmental conditions are fantastic.

Vetkal will join Roma's U-17 youth side, after playing in a total of 19 matches in the Estonian Premium League (Meistriliiga). He also holds the record of being the youngest player to score a goal in the Estonian top league (see video below).
