Prominent Public Intellectual to Become Presidential Adviser

Prominent editor and columnist Iivi-Anna Masso will take up a position as adviser to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in 2013, the Office of the President said today.
Ilves's spokesman Toomas Sildam said that Masso will take over a post formerly held by Olari Koppel, who is now in a part-time capacity while he heads the Cooperation Assembly.
"From the start of the year, she will advise the president on a wide range of areas, an adviser for general issues," said Sildam.
Masso, a well-respected name in the transatlantic community known for her Helsinki University research affiliation, is currently editor of the periodical Diplomaatia.
