Estonians in Rio, Day 11: Lifter robbed of Estonian record-breaking lift, long jumper, hurdle jumper advance to finals

Two out of three judges refused to count a clean and jerk lift of 250 kilograms, which would have broken an Estonian record and boosted weightlifter Mart Seim to 5th place overall. Ksenija Balta earned a spot in the women's long jump finals, while hurdle jumper Rasmus Mägi snagged a lane for himself in the 400m hurdles finals as well.
Wrestling: Men's Greco-Roman 98 kg
Estonian wrestler Ardo Arusaar had to admit defeat to Russian opponent Islam Magovedov in an opening match lost 0:6. As Magovedov in turn lost 1:3 against Turkish wrestler Cenk İldem in the quarterfinals, the Olympics were ver for Arusaar.
"So little time has gone by that I have not been able to give any more thought to [disappointment]," admitted Arusaar.
Weightlifting: Men's over 105 kg
Estonian weightlifter Mart Seim came in 7th overall with a total lifted weight of 430 kilograms (approximately 948 pounds), while Georgian Lasha Talakhadze took first place with a total of 473 kg (approximately 1,043 pounds) — a new world record.
Seim was only in 13th after a snatch of 187 kilograms (412.3 pounds), however a clean and jerk of 243 kg (535.7 pounds), lifted on his first attempt of three, brought him up to 7th place overall.
The Estonian weightlifter's second attempt was a clean and jerk of 250 kg (551.2 pounds), however two of the three event judges declared that it didn't qualify; had it counted, the lift would have broken the Estonian record and boosted him to 5th place overall in the event.
"In the clean and jerk I lifted 250; I don't know why it wasn't counted," Seim said in an interview with ERR. "That attempt would have helped improve my spirits. Okay, my arms were a bit crooked, but that is allowed. I held it at that angle; I didn't press it any more. That should have been a correct attempt."
Sailing: Women's 49er FX (skiff) class
Estonian sailing duo Kätlin Tammiste and Anna Maria Sepp placed 20th, 18th and 17th in their final three races, leading them to place 19th overall in the women's 49er FX competiton.

Estonian javelin thrower Liina Laasma was unable to improve upon her first throw of 58.06 meters, throwing just 56.21 and 56.62 in her following two attempts and coming in 20th place overall.

Athletics: Women's long jump
With a jump of 6.71 meters on her second attempt, coming in fourth, Estonian long jumper Ksenija Balta qualified to advance to the women's long jump finals, which are scheduld to take place on Wednesday.
"I was prepared for this result," Balta told ETV. "I am super happy that I got this result on the second attempt and didn't have to leave to the third. I fulfilled my goal by qualifying for the finals, but one thing is sure: tomorrow is a completely new day, and new winds will be blowing."
The three to beat, based on standings heading into the finals, will be Serbian Ivana Španović (6.87), Geerman Malaika Mihambo (6.82) and American Brittney Reese (6.78).
Athletics: Men's 400m hurdles
Estonian hurdle jumper Rasmus Mägi's best time of 48:64 qualified him by a margin of one one-hundredth of a second for the top eight and thus the event's finals, which are scheduled to take place on Thursday.
The top eight also includes American Kerron Clement (48:26) and Kenyan Boniface Tumuti (48:85) from the first race, Jamaican Annsert White (48:32), Puerto Rican Javier Culson (48:46) and Turkish Yasmani Copello (48:61) from the second, and Irish Thomas Barr (48:39) and Kenyan Haron Koech (48:49) from the third.
"I don't have a lot to say," Mägi told ETV. "I have the feeling that I don't even really have to describe much. The run wasn't a beautiful and aesthetic one, however I got done fairly precisely that which needed to be done."
