Sander Raieste opens EuroLeague scoring tally in victory over Khimki
Estonian forward Sander Raieste's home club Saski Baskonia took a 22-point victory over BC Khimki on Thursday evening, a game during which the young Estonian scored his first career EuroLeague points.
Baskonia took control of the game from the beginning, winning the first quarter 24:14, followed by maintaining their 10-point lead into halftime. The Spanish team extended their lead to 24 by the end of the third quarter and closed the game with a 89:67 victory over the Moscow-based BC Khimki, whose EuroLeague losing streak now stands at 15 games.
Raieste hit the court for Baskonia a minute and 39 seconds before the final buzzer sounded and scored his first career field goal with a minute left in the deciding quarter. Raieste added a turnover just before the end of the game.
Six Baskonia's players scored in double figures in the team effort, including Zoran Dragic, brother of Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic. Youssoupha Fall was the high point man with 14 points. Former NBA player Alexey Shved scored 16 for Khimki.
Baskonia is currently 11th in the EuroLeague with 12 victories and 13 losses. Khimki is last (18th) with two wins and 22 losses, five wins back from Crvena Zvezda. The league best is Barcelona (18W-7L), followed by Armani Exchange Milan (16W-8L) and CSKA Moscow (16W-8L).
