Estonian national football team captain Ragnar Klavan returned from a two-month playing break, playing 90 minutes for his Cagliari Calcio under-19 team in the Italian youth league. Slimmed-down Tartu ski marathon event to go ahead later this month

Whereas last year's Tartu ski marathon had to be canceled due to lack of snow, this year's event does not have that problem given the recent weather, but still has to meet the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. As a result of the latter, no mass start is to take place, but competitors will be started in staggered batches instead.

Health Board classifies team sports as high-risk activities

11.02.21 NEWS ... The Health Board has changed a previous regulation that did not classify team sports such as basketball and football as high-risk sports and ball players must train carefully going forward, as the police can run spot checks on training groups.

Kontaveit makes final that will not be played in Melbourne

07.02.21 NEWS ... Estonian tennis player Anett Kontaveit (WTA 23) made the final of the WTA 500 Grampians Trophy tournament, while the match will not be held. Kontaveit beat Maria Sakkari from Greece (WTA 22) 2:6, 6:3, 11:9 in Melbourne.

Marten Liiv finishes sixth in ISU World Cup 1000m Division A

01.02.21 NEWS ... Estonian speed skater Marten Liiv reached his career-best position in Division A, finishing sixth in the 1000 m finals in an ISU World Cup round in Heerenveen. He also took part in the 500 m final, but came in last at 19th.

Warm-up knee injury keeps Kelly Sildaru out of X-Games season opener

01.02.21 NEWS ... Estonian freestyle skier Kelly Sildaru had to miss the opening event of the X-Games season over the weekend after injuring her knee during warm-ups. On Sunday, 14-year old Henry Sildaru came in second in a men's halfpipe event in Switzerland.

Sports biologist and board member of the Estonian Anti-Doping Agency (EADA) Kristjan Port said on ETV's morning show "Terevisioon" on Monday that instead of blaming "Pealtnägija" presenter Mihkel Kärmas, major sports sponsor Toomas Annus should instead sue Mati Alaver and Karel Tammjärv for fraud and misuse of sponsorship money.
