Gallery: Haapsalu-Noarootsi ice road opened to traffic
At 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Estonian Road Administration opened the Haapsalu-Noarootsi ice road to traffic. Vehicles with an actual mass of up to 2.5 tons are permitted to use the ice road.
The three-kilometer ice road begins off of Holmi Shore in Haapsalu and terminates near the jetty in Noarootsi's Österby Harbour, at the terminus of Nõmmküla-Aulepa-Österby Highway.
The ice road is open to traffic during daylight hours, initially between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. The road was built and will be maintained by Paralepa Sadam OÜ.
