Estonian border guard ship sent to assist vessel in distress at sea

The Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) ship EML Kindral Kurvits (PVL-101) set out to sea at the request of the Finnish Coast Guard to assist a cargo vessel in distress near the Russian island of Gogland in the Gulf of Finland.
According to the Finnish Coast Guard, the vessel in distress in the Gulf of Finland is the Glory Hongkong, a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Panama that was on its way to St. Petersburg. Water had entered the vessel's engine room.
The Finnish icebreaker MSV Nordica headed out to assist the vessel.
Spokespeople for Estonia's East Prefecture said that the PPA's Kindral Kurvits is headed out to assist the Glory Hongkong at the request of the Finnish Coast Guard. The PPA's flight patrol helicopter is also prepared to participate in the rescue mission if necessary.
The Finnish Coast Guard is prepared to evacuate people from the vessel in distress.
