Ship rescued from Gulf of Finland reaches Tallinn Bay
The Glory Hongkong, a cargo ship in distress that was rescued from near the Russian island of Gogland in the Gulf of Finland, reached Tallinn Bay by Saturday morning.
The distress call of the Glory Hongkong, whcih sails under the flag of Panama and was on its way to St. Petersburg, reached a rescue center in Helsinki on Thursday afternoon.
The Finnish icebreaker MSV Nordica headed out to assist the vessel. Estonia's Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) ship EML Kindral Kurvits (PVL-101) was likewise dispatched to assist at the request of the Finnish Coast Guard.
Water had entered the ship's engine room, possibly due to a plumbing failure. The vessel is not at risk of a fuel leak however, and likewise not at risk of sinking.
There are 22 crew members on board.
