The German Bundesliga club revealed its interest in the 26-year-old Estonian player last week and the deal was officially announced on the club's website yesterday. Klavan's contract will last through to June 2014, with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed.

"The Bundesliga has a great reputation in Europe. I am happy that the deal has gone through and I am looking forward to the challenge offered to me by Augsburg," Klavan said on the club's official website.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl and manager Manfred Paula both believe that Klavan will prove to be a great addition to the club's defensive line due to his versatility.

Klavan will be wearing jersey number 5 in Augsburg and is set to join the club's pre-season training this week.
