April industrial producer price index up 3.7 percent on year
The producer price index of industrial output in April increased by 0.3 percent compared to March and by 3.7 percent compared to April of last year.
In April, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of chemicals, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, mining and quarrying and the manufacture of wood, but also by a decrease in prices in the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles and in the manufacture of food products, according to a Monday morning press release by Statistics Estonia.
Compared to April 2016, the index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils, food products and electronic equipment, but also by a decrease in prices in mining and quarrying and in the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles.
This April also saw the export price index increase by 0.6 percent on month and 6.4 percent on year.
Compared to the previous month, April prices of articles of peat, petroleum products and beverages increased more than average while the prices of leather products, parts and accessories for motor vehicles and metal products decreased more than average.
The import price index also increased by 0.5 percent on month and 5.8 percent on year in April.
Compared to th previous month, April prices of agricultural products, electricity and metals increased more than average, while the prices of electronic products, textiles and electrical equipment decreased more than average.
