Gallery: EKRE holds torchlight procession dedicated to Independence Day
For the fifth time, the Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE) organized a torchlight procession in honor of Estonia's Independence Day.
On the occasion of the Estonian centennial, the slogan of this year's event was "One hundred years behind us. One thousand years ahead."
People filled Freedom Square, where the event began at 7 p.m. with the singing of the Estonian national anthem, led by singer Raimondo Laikre. Welcome remarks were delivered by EKRE chairman Mart Helme.
The procession wound its way through Tallinn's Old Town and briefly onto Pärnu Highway, which was partially closed to traffic, while participants in the procession sang well-known patriotic songs.
An hour later, the procession returned to the foot of the War of Independence Victory Column in Freedom Square, where the singalong continued.
