The Center Party has paid into the state budget more than €110,000, equaling the amount of a donation made to the party which has been deemed as a forbidden donation.

Spokespeople for Center said the party paid back said amount on July 18, immediately after it became clear that they cannot pay back the amount in several parts.

The administrative chamber of the Supreme Court on June 17 dismissed an appeal by the Center Party against an order of the Supervisory Committee on Party Financing (ERJK) to transfer into the state budget €110,100 received as a forbidden donation.

According to the top court, shortfalls in the party's accounting in 2014 and 2015 did not allow to establish the origin of the money taken from the party's cash box to a bank and paid into the party's bank account.

The party then asked ERJK for the possibility to pay back the money in parts.

The committee refused the Center Party's request.
