Prime Minister Jüri Ratas undergoes surgery for intestinal inflammation

Prime Minister Jüri Ratas (Center) underwent surgery late on Monday for inflammation and is currently in the North Estonia Medical Center.

Ratas said via a press release on Tuesday morning: "I would like to thank the doctors at the North Estonia Medical Center for their rapid response and their professionalism."

According to the release, the prime minister's condition is improving and he will be allowed home soon for post-surgery care, the surgery was to clear up intestinal inflammation.

According to the Government of the Republic Act and the procedure for substitution, Minister of Finance Martin Helme (EKRE) will take Ratas' place as acting prime minister.
