Gallery: Saaremaa local government building lit up in flag colors
On Sunday evening, the Saaremaa parish celebrated the 103th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia with a light show called "Pimeduse valgel".
The local government building in Saaremaa was lit up in the Estonian flag colors: blue, black and white. The show lasted some ten minutes and took place on three separate times on Sunday.
Since large gatherings are not allowed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the public display at Saaremaa was held without any additional festivities.
In addition, this year's Estonian Independence Day festivities will be broadcast by ETV without the traditional reception or invited guests, as a result of coronavirus considerations. The events on the day, February 24, will take place in the central Estonian town of Paide.
Weather permitting, aircraft of the Estonian Air Force and allies will fly over the cities of Kärdla, Kuressaare, Pärnu, Viljandi, Tartu, Rakvere and Tallinn on February 24, the Independence Day of Estonia.
