Gallery: Estonian centennial begins with flag-raising ceremony at dawn
The 100th birthday of the Republic of Estonia began on Saturday with a festive raising of the Estonian flag at Toompea Castle's Tall Hermann Tower at dawn.
President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor and Tallinn Secondary School of Science 12th grader Mathias Kübar both gave speeches at the event in the Governor's Garden on Saturday morning.
Archbishop of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church (EELK) Urmas Viilma also shared words of blessing at the event.
The Estonian Declaration of Independence, known as the Manifesto to the Peoples of Estonia, was read by Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA) Drama School student Priit Põldma.
Men's choirs of the Estonian Male Choir Assosiation and the Police and Border Guard Board Orchestra performed as well.
