Port of Tallinn planning to build public pools near Old City Harbor

The Port of Tallinn has initiated a detailed plan to build public swimming pools in the sea near Vööri tänav near the Old City Harbor.
Piret Üts, the real estate business manager of the Port of Tallinn, told ERR there are plans to build a completely new area in the redeveloped area, with apartment buildings, office buildings and entertainment facilities.
"The plan is to bring the city to the port, to transform the former port area into an attractive center and to define the area necessary for port activities," Üts explained.
However, Üts does not yet know exactly when the detailed plans will be completed.
The landowner is the Port of Tallinn, who would grant the right of superficies to interested entrepreneurs or the city in the future.
According to Üts, there are also plans to build swimming pools in the port, but an environmental impact assessment should be carried out separately.
Exactly how the pools will be built or their design has not been decided, Üts said, adding that inspiration for the construction of the pools has come from Helsinki.
