Industrial production volume in July reaches level of 2019

According to state agency Statistics Estonia (Statistikaamet), in July 2020, the production of industrial enterprises was the same as in July 2019. Production decreased in manufacturing, but increased in energy and mining.
According to Helle Bunder, analyst at Statistics Estonia, manufacturing showed signs of recovery in July, as more than a half of manufacturing activities exceeded last year's volumes.
The analyst said: "Among the activities with larger shares, production increased in the manufacture of electrical equipment, computers and electronic products as well as in the manufacture of wood and products of wood. Production decreased in the manufacture of metal products and food products."
In July, the total production in manufacturing decreased by 1 percent year on year.
67 percent of total production of manufacturing was sold to the external market. The shares of sales for export were largest in the manufacture of computers and electronic products. According to unadjusted data provided by Statistics Estonia, the sales of manufacturing production for export increased by 2 percent year on year, while sales to the domestic market decreased by 11 percent.
In July, compared to June, the seasonally adjusted total industrial production increased by 3 percent and the production of manufacturing by 4 percent.
In energy production, the production of electricity increased by 5 percent and the production of heat of remained at July 2019 level.
